Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow Analysis

Mechanical and design analysis on the first generation of Pokémon games

This project involved analyzing the design decisions behind a published game, as well as breaking down the gameplay into flowcharts to give a better view of the game as a system.

The first part of this process was summarizing the game and the economic systems that drive it.

Following that, I attempted to answer a series of design questions as if I were creating the game from the ground up.

Next, I analyzed the game as a finished product, which included another set of design questions.

The most interesting part of this project was creating a set of flowcharts in an attempt to map out the entire functionality of the game, as well as the feedback loops that players will experience while playing.
